4th of July

The 4th of July and all the festivities is my Mom's favorite holiday -- far above all else.

Most people give thanks to our troops for keeping us safe and protecting us… I do as well… most mostly I think of and thank my Mom.

My Mom has the most amazing strength and dignity – matched by only 1 other woman that I know of .. my Moms late friend Pat. Those 2 woman …. If I only had the words… Ok I suppose I better come up with the words this is a blog after all!! LOL .. ………. I am by far luckier than most. My Mom has always been a pillar of strength for me – teaching in ALL aspects of life. She took a spill last summer, then again a few weeks ago she fell down some stairs at home .. nothing broke (the 2nd time) but she hasn’t been the same since. Much trouble walking, sleeping – everything. I know this hurdle that God has placed in front of her once again is hard for her. She is young (only 65) but she has not been dealt an easy medical life – but I have NEVER heard her complain – not once In my entire life. Even now when every breath hurts she doesn’t stop – nope she has a party! Like she and my Dad do every year for the 4th of July. But as I sit here reflecting over years past – I -wonder how much this party cost her this year – and I worry. I worry that the Lord won’t let her live another 20 years (selfish I know but 85 really isn’t that old!), but then I worry about her pain .. I don’t want her to suffer.

I wish I could come up with the words that describe how blessed I am to have the Mother the Lord gave me… I hope she knows.
