Cries of Happiness

Nick just sent me a text saying "Mom I think you are going to cry of happiness when you see my room"

Anyone who knows Nick can understand my reluctance to believe him. This morning I threatending to take off his door and gut the entire room so we will see. (I think it was the "gut" word that really got him going!!

Wish me luck!

This is The Day

David turned 23 today.

23 years I have been blessed to call him my son.

23 years of being someones mom!

23 years of learning each and every day ... sometimes David and sometimes me.

23 years of worry .... I used to think a parent would stop worrying so much when the kids reach a certain age but NOPE - not yet!

23 years of being proud ... I feel blessed knowing that I will continue to be proud of this young man FOREVER.

Happy Birthday !!

The Ditch

Don't you just love it when your morning finds you in a HUGE ditch? It doesn't get much better than that - wait it does - it is better when you are trying to get out of the ditch and the drivers side tire is throwing mud and grass all over your pants because your door is open so you can help push! Gotta love Wisconsin in December when driving a Corolla - my sweet little sled.

But... on the upside my day can only get better.

Scrap Bag or Dirt Hole?

So, I am sitting down in my scraproom today working on Christmas projects...well.. trying to. My animals are determined to hinder my creative attempts.

First.. the tinsel I bought from the 12 Days of Tags display at The Scrapbook Store has turned into cat and dog toys.

Second...... when the ink pad comes off the catseye ink and PLOPS onto your project it really is annoying. BUT... not nearly as annoying as the crunch..crunch crunch my dog is making as she is trying to EAT the cover! Seriously Pebbles ... everything is NOT FOOD!!

Third...my sanding block, and my Tim Holtz hand sander goes missing. I tromp out to the garage to grab a piece of sand paper from there (brrr it is freaking cold outside!) Come back downstairs and sand my grundgeboard... PERFECT! I turn my head for a split second and the dog grabs the sandpaper and sneakily (is that a word) inches towards my rolling cart. I am watching out the corner of my eye.... and she slowly drops my sandpaper into my open rolling cart, then she lays down like she wasn't doibg anything. I walk over and look inside -- what do i see???

Sandpaper, sanding block, hand distresser, glue dots, hair scrunchies, stickles dog bones and toys. Really?? I know my scrap space needs to be picked up but I never would call it a "hole in the ground". And if my dog thinks my scrap bag is her "hole in the ground" she has another thing coming!!

Nifty Fifty

I am pretty much posting this so that I "don't forget" ...

Nick got his new basketball uniform today -- very cool as I think the "old" uniforms were used when I went to school there. Very exciting -- yet sad for Nick as he had to retire the old jersey number and it was replaced with 50.

After practice he tries it on and shows me his new cool and hip uniform .. he mentions again that his number is 50 (apparently I am older than I look because yes I can see that the jersey has a HUGE 50 on it!) .... as he wonders aloud if the number 50 is for good or bad players.. he is looking a little sad... so in my house I do what any decent mother would do .. hassle him. I say ... 50 is awesome ... oh hey Nick can you here it now... I will yell out at your basketball games really loud "Nifty Fifty" whenever you do something really good.

I then proceeded to open his door throughout the night saying "Nifty Fifty" .. I even had friends and family texting "Nifty Fifty" to his phone .... each time he would laugh and yell "mom stop you aren't funny!" .. lol........ the best part.................. he is worried that I will actually yell this out at his basketball games - and maybe I will!
